Description
Hervycta 440mg Injection is a targeted therapy used in the treatment of certain types of cancer. Its active ingredient is Trastuzumab, a monoclonal antibody that specifically targets the HER2 protein. In some cancers, particularly breast and gastric cancers, the HER2 protein is overexpressed, leading to uncontrolled cell growth. Hervycta works by binding to these HER2 receptors on cancer cells, blocking their growth signals and marking the cancer cells for destruction by the body’s immune system. It can also prevent HER2-positive cancer cells from dividing and multiplying.
Hervycta is indicated for the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer (both early and metastatic) and HER2-positive metastatic gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma. The dosage and administration of Hervycta are determined by a healthcare professional based on the patient’s condition and response to treatment. It is typically administered intravenously.
Common side effects may include fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and fatigue. More serious side effects can include heart problems (such as decreased heart function), lung problems, and severe allergic reactions. Patients should inform their doctor about any pre-existing medical conditions, especially heart conditions, before starting treatment. Hervycta should be stored at refrigerator temperatures (2°C to 8°C) and protected from light. Do not freeze.
