Dash 50mg Tablet is a medication containing the active ingredient Dapagliflozin. It belongs to a class of drugs called sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors. Dapagliflozin works by blocking the reabsorption of glucose in the kidneys, leading to increased excretion of glucose in the urine. This mechanism helps to lower blood glucose levels in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Additionally, by reducing the workload on the kidneys and heart, it can also offer cardiovascular and renal benefits. Dash 50mg Tablet is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It may also be used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death and heart failure hospitalization in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus and established cardiovascular disease, or in adults with heart failure. The typical dosage is one tablet once daily, taken orally. It can be taken with or without food. Common side effects may include genital yeast infections, urinary tract infections, increased urination, and dehydration. It is important to stay well-hydrated while taking this medication.
