Afzanna 40mg Tablet is a medication containing the active ingredient Afatinib. Afatinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) that works by blocking the signals that cancer cells need to grow and divide. It is specifically designed to target certain types of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that have specific genetic mutations, such as EGFR mutations. By inhibiting these growth pathways, Afzanna helps to slow down or stop the progression of the cancer.
Afzanna 40mg Tablet is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with metastatic squamous NSCLC progressing after platinum-based chemotherapy. It is also used for the first-line treatment of adult patients with metastatic NSCLC whose tumors have specific EGFR mutations (exon 19 deletions or exon 21 (L858R) substitution mutations).
The usual dosage is one 40mg tablet taken orally once daily. It is important to take Afzanna exactly as prescribed by your doctor and to not stop treatment without consulting them. Common side effects may include diarrhea, rash, acneiform dermatitis, stomatitis, and nail changes. Serious side effects can occur, and it is crucial to report any new or worsening symptoms to your healthcare provider immediately.
